Luke cracks me up. Right now he is interested in wearing certain things. The other day he wanted to go to the store with me. He insisted on wearing a grey shirt, holie jeans, a blue and green vest, bright blue rain boots with red lizards all over em and black and white checker sunglasses. It was pouring down rain so the boots were very practical. Sunglasses however were more of fashion statement. =) I wish I would have taken a picture of his get up. He cared not about any sort of fashion trend but only what he liked. Why aren't we all so inclined to dress that way? And if only that would last through the teen years. =)
While we were out shopping Luke spotted a boys tie. With Jeffs new job, he is a shirt, coat and tie guy everyday. Luke wanting to emulate Daddy, insisted on this purchase. I relented. He chose a navy tie with green polka dots.
Last Friday was picture day. He pleaded with me to wear his shirt and tie. I didn't really think shirt and tie was appropriate play wear for preschool but, again it was important to him. So he went to school dressed in his best. I can't wait to get those pictures back. =)

Otoscope... One Rockin' Toy
The bad news first. Illness prevails in our home.... STILL. I thought we were done with Wyatts fever. He has been fever free for several days. Last night he woke up crying. When I pulled him out of bed he was burning up and shaking. I don't think it was a febrile seizure. It was more like a super bad case of the shivers. I attempted to take his temp but the dumb ear thermometer conked out. So, I am not sure of the actual fever number. But whats a number when you are a Mom. Mom's who have been on the job for a few years KNOW a mild fever from a rager just by touch. This one was a rager. After some Motrin and cooling off he was feeling better. Today he seems tired and the fever hasn't come back, yet.
The other bit of bad was I caught whatever funk is going around. The chills, sore throat and body aches welcomed me Saturday morning.
The good.. Jeff ran out to pick up a new thermometer and Motrin. While he was out he purchased an otoscope. We were playing with it for all of fifteen minutes before Luke starts calling out from bed 'Mooooommmmmm my ear hurts...' We turned the otoscope on him and sure enough it looked just like the picture. Boy do I wish we had plunked down the $14.00 years ago. I could have saved several trips to the doctor and many co-pays. Hmm, anyone want to do a return on investment calculation real quick? =)
Tomorrow will probably bring a trip to the doc for both boys. Who knows maybe I will even request a quick swab of my oral cavity for strep. =)

Chatter Tornado
First, let me begin by stating I am honored so many people want to share their every thought with me! What a blessing! I want to hear every word that tumbles from those precious mouths. But why must they all unload at the exact SAME TIME? Helloooo Guys, perhaps I can't hear a single word anyone is saying? It's like I am in the eye of a chatter tornado.
By attempting to hear everyone I heard no one! Ditching the standard polite nod, I found myself shouting over the noise (because that's what it becomes when there isn't an actual conversation happening) to take turn speaking. They looked stunned. Why is the obvious so shocking sometimes?

Bugs
Wyatt has a nasty bug coursing through his body. Poor kid. It started with a pesky cough Sunday night. 3:00AM rolls around and I am frightened out of bed by that horrid barking sound. I have met that 'bark' before and its never good. Only the last two times Luke was the host of such party.
I immediately began steam treatments aleternating with cold air exposure. They helped some but he was drooling a lot. That concerned me because I had never seen the drooling accompanied with the croup. He was also taking deep breaths. His skin color was normal and his temperament perked up after an hour of steam and cold. We chose to keep a watchful eye on him. What a restless night for me. I kept bouncing out of bed every half hour to make sure he was okay. I know, a bit neurotic. But I'd rather be tired than worried. Something about breathing troubles that rattle me.
The next day his bark subsided. Since Sunday he has been running fevers on and off. He keeps telling me his 'froat' hurts. That and his hiccups are hurting. (he means cough)
Oh the joys of Mommyhood. =) To top it off, when I picked Luke up from school today, there was a note in his cubby stating that he was exposed to strep throat this week. Fabulous. Let's see what the next few day hopefully don't bring!
